CANON Challenge
In this challenge, we had 6 questions about how to take a picture. For example, the first question might say blur out the background and focus on the object however in order to capture the correct picture you'll have to adjust the shutter speed, aperture and ISO.My aim was to get all of them correct as quick as possible, which I achieved as you can see the picture on the left.

The exposure triangle is a common way of associating the three variables that determine the exposure of a photograph: aperture, shutter speed, and ISO. One must balance all three of these to achieve a desired result, an adjustment of one requiring adjustments of at least one of the others.
|
They work together(aperture, shutter speed and ISO to gather the amount of light needed for a correctly exposed photograph. If you change 1 variable, you must change at least one of the others to get a correct exposure.

Key Word
Pan shot-The basic idea behind panning as a technique is that you pan your camera along in time with the moving subject and end up getting a relatively sharp subject but a blurred background. This gives the shot a feeling of movement and speed.
|
Tracking shot-A tracking shot is any shot where the camera moves alongside the object(s) it is recording.
Shadow-A dark area or shape made by an object blocking rays of light. b. The darkness or diminished light caused by the blocking of a light source: The back yard is in shadow all day long. c. A darker area in a picture or photograph |
Tone-lightness, brightness or value of a patch in a photograph: dark tones correspond to shadows, light tones correspond to bright or highlight areas.
Texture- is any imagery that depends, at least partly, for its impact on the texture of the objects in the image. Texture will be defined as the surface detail of an object.
|
Shape and form-There are many elements of composition that form the building blocks of photography: lines, shape, form, texture, pattern, and the rule of thirds, just to name a few. Each of these elements plays a role in drawing the viewer's eye into the photo.
This picture is an example of depth of field and this is called a tracking shot. A tracking shot is a shot where the camera moves along side the object. Our aim was to capture a picture where the camera is focused on the person that's riding a bike and blur out the background(Aperture) . We managed to capture one however this gives out an effect, it makes the person on the bike look like he's riding it fast.
|
This is the same experiment, however in this picture we did not adjust the shutter speed correctly as it was too high. As a result the picture did not turn out great as the person on the bike is fully blurred out.
|
If your shutter speed is slower, then you need less light. As a result, an open aperture means a faster shutter speed. A closed aperture means a slower shutter speed . The other variable in the exposure equation is ISO, which refers to the sensitivity of the film or imaging sensor inside your camera.
|
The aperture of a photographic lens is a hole that can be adjusted to different sizes. This lets the photographer control the amount of light reaching the film or image sensor . The aperture is changed along with the shutter speed to control the amount of light that enters the camera. This amount of light is called the exposure. Typically, a fast shutter speed will not let much light in (meaning the picture could come out too dark), so the photographer will use a larger aperture to correct for this. A slow shutter speed will need a smaller aperture to stop the picture coming out too bright. The aperture of a photographic lens is a hole that can be adjusted to different sizes.
